Between a flat in Hyères and an isolated house near Aups, heating needs are not comparable. In the Var, a heat pump must be chosen according to altitude, exposure and the insulation of the home.
Mild coast, colder inland
On the coast, winters are generally mild: an air-to-water or air-to-air heat pump works in good conditions for most of the season. In the Haut-Var and around Brignoles or Saint-Maximin, frosts are more frequent: power and model choice must take this into account.
Many inland Var houses are still heated with oil. Replacing the boiler with an air-to-water heat pump often lets you keep the existing radiators, subject to checking.
What we check in this area
- Altitude and winter temperatures in your commune
- Type and condition of the radiators or underfloor heating
- Insulation level of the roof and walls
- Position of the outdoor unit and neighbours
- Possible removal of the oil tank and boiler

Frequently asked questions
Is a heat pump enough in the Haut-Var?
Yes in many cases, if correctly sized and if the home is sufficiently insulated. The study takes your commune’s temperatures into account.
What should I do with my old oil tank?
It must be neutralised or removed when replacing the boiler. We include this in the study.

Financial aid: whether aid exists, its amount and your eligibility depend on your situation (income, status, type of home), on the technical characteristics of the project and on the schemes in force at the time of the study. We check these points with you; no aid is guaranteed in advance.
