The Var is among the sunniest départements in mainland France. That asset alone is not enough: every roof must be studied, from the coast exposed to wind and sea spray to the villages inland that face other constraints.
A département with very different situations
On the coast, from Six-Fours to Saint-Raphaël, sea air means checking the corrosion resistance of equipment and fixings. In the west of the département, the mistral can blow hard: wind resistance of the fixings is part of the study.
In the Provence Verte, the Dracénie or the Haut-Var, detached houses often have larger roofs, but hilltop villages and their old centres are frequently subject to the opinion of the Architecte des Bâtiments de France.
What we check in this area
- Roof orientation and pitch, presence of pines, terraces or relief that cast shade
- Wind resistance and, near the sea, resistance to salt air
- Condition of the tiles and roof frame before installation
- Commune planning rules and any protected areas
- Consumption profile: air conditioning, pool, home working, electric vehicle

Frequently asked questions
Is the mistral a problem for solar panels?
It means the fixings must be sized correctly for the roof’s exposure. This is checked during the on-site study.
Can panels be installed in a listed village in the Var?
Sometimes, under conditions. In protected areas, the opinion of the Architecte des Bâtiments de France governs position and appearance. We check these rules before any proposal.
Do you work in the Haut-Var?
Yes, we support projects throughout the département, with local partner installers. Visit lead times may vary by location.

Financial aid: whether aid exists, its amount and your eligibility depend on your situation (income, status, type of home), on the technical characteristics of the project and on the schemes in force at the time of the study. We check these points with you; no aid is guaranteed in advance.
