Redistributing rooms, creating a bedroom, opening up a kitchen or renovating damaged walls: work on walls and partitions transforms a home. It is also an opportunity to improve thermal and acoustic insulation.
The works covered
- New partitions and linings (plasterboard, plaster blocks)
- Opening or removing walls, after a study
- Insulating linings for external walls
- Wall coverings: renders, tiling, panels
What we check before the works
- Whether the wall concerned is load-bearing
- The routes of services (electricity, water, ventilation)
- Thermal and acoustic insulation needs
Regulations and good practice
- Opening a load-bearing wall requires a structural study and suitable reinforcement (lintel, beam); in a condominium, the owners’ meeting must agree.
- Plasterboard works follow their professional installation rules (French DTU 25.41).
These general rules are confirmed for each project, depending on your home, your commune and the regulations in force at the time of the study.
How does your project work?
- Your request and the appointmentYou describe your project online (pre-study) or by phone. With your agreement, the adviser calls you back to arrange an appointment at your home.
- The full on-site study, free and with no obligationIn your presence: review of the existing situation, access constraints and the technical points of the planned works. If the project makes sense, the adviser presents the partner installer’s detailed offer.
- Time to decideYou can sign at the appointment or take time to think. Once you have agreed, you have the legal 14-day withdrawal period.
- The partner installer’s check visitAfter the withdrawal period, the partner installer visits the site in turn to confirm all the technical points.
- Formalities and any financial aidPlanning or condominium permissions if the works require them, any financial aid and, if needed, a financing application. If an essential approval is refused, the project is cancelled.
- Installation, checks and after-sales serviceOnce all approvals have been obtained, the works are carried out by a qualified partner company with ten-year insurance, then checked with you at handover. The partner installer then provides after-sales service under its own guarantees and those of the manufacturers.
What influences the cost
We do not give prices without a visit: every job is different. The main factors that change the quote are:
- The area of walls and partitions
- Whether a load-bearing wall is involved and the reinforcement needed
- The level of finish and the built-in insulation
Who carries out the installation? Agence IntExt, an Independent Business Manager (VDI Mandataire), advises you, studies your project and coordinates its delivery. The Agency does not carry out the works itself: the installation is entrusted to independent partner installers, selected for their qualifications (RGE, QualiPV, QualiPAC… depending on the solution) and their ten-year (décennale) insurance, so that the installation complies with the standards and regulations in force.
Frequently asked questions
Can a load-bearing wall be removed?
It is often possible, but only after a structural study that defines the reinforcement required. The formalities (condominium, insurance) are checked before the works.
Does a lining improve insulation?
Yes, an insulated lining reduces heat loss through external walls. Its thickness is chosen taking living space into account.
